Vilém’s Cob Cottage
Mladá Vožice

Cob Gardening Hut - 2010-2011
There is still, I believe - even within conventional standards of construction - much to said for the pure spontaneous joy of doing. Vilém’s Cob project was instigated on the idealistic premise of a house made completely out of materials found within the immediate proximity of the site, built literally by hand, and at a low as possible cost. My friend Vilém was, at the time living in Prague and had purchased 5 hectars of arid farm land and wanted to create a permaculture oasis there. One beautiful early spring day in March, 2010, while we were hanging out in Prague, I told him, man, why aren’t you planting trees right now on your property, wouldn’t it be so much easier to be there in the chilly early spring days if you had a cob hut there? That summer we began buiding.
