Slow Architecture and the Poetry of Construction
Our work strives towards the complete sensual and rational convergence of craftsmanship and design, resulting in unique objects and atmospheric environments tailored to specific people, purposes and contexts. Ultimately, our work aspires towards a cultural dialectic between nature and humanity.
For practical purposes we have divided the construction and design activities. Terra Sylva construction is our building enterprise, where we also offer construction services to other architects. Studio Circle Growth is the design studio.

Naše práce usiluje o racionální a smyslové propojení řemesla a designu, jehož výsledkem jsou unikátní objekty a atmosférická prostředí šitá na míru konkrétním lidem, účelům a kontextům. V nejširším smyslu naše práce aspiruje ke kulturní dialektice mezi přírodou a lidstvem.
Pro praktické účely jsme rozdělili stavební a projekční činnost. Terra Sylva s.r.o. je naše stavební firma, kde nabízíme stavební služby i dalším architektům. Studio Circle Growth je designové studio.

I began by building sculpted earth houses using the ancient earth building technique of cob. Later I learned to work with wood at Gisbert Baarmanns woodshop near Berlin, and then had a small furniture business in Prague for several years when I decided that design should become the cornerstone of my activities. After pursuing an architecture degree at the Glasgow School of Art and at ENSA-Paris Belleville I worked for Herzog & de Meuron in Basel, Switzerland for some time. Currently, I am residing in Prague and fully immersed in the design and construction processes of Studio Circle Growth.
“...And though architect Martin Žižka cut his teeth at Swiss firm Herzog & de Meuron, his aim at his Prague design and build firm Studio Circle Growth and Terra Sylva Construction is to sustainably touch the earth lightly with ecological design and materials – all done by his own hand.”

Začal jsem stavbou ručně modelovaných hliněných domů pomocí starodávné techniky hliněného stavitelství “cob”, nebo-li lepenice. Později jsem se u Gisberta Baarmanna u Berlína naučil pracovat se dřevem a několik let jsem měl v Praze malou nábytkářskou firmu, když jsem se rozhodl, že design by se měl stát základním kamenem mých aktivit. Po studiu architektury na Glasgow School of Art a na ENSA-Paris Belleville jsem nějakou dobu pracoval pro Herzog & de Meuron v Basileji ve Švýcarsku. V současné době bydlím v Praze a jsem plně ponořený do procesu navrhování a stavění pro naše klienty.
